The objective of this project is to put forward a new-type traffic information collection methods based on urban wireless sensor network technologies for small or middle-sized cities, and the sub-arteries or branches in large cities. The research contents include wireless nodes deployment, initializing network and dynamic updating for sensor nodes, communication link optimization and topology planning, information coordination mechanism for the sensor nodes in the network, etc.

By using the data fusion and data mining results, this project is to study urban transportation planning and construction information extraction and expression technologies by integrating statistics and optimization theories.   • Soft Measurement Technologies for Networked Traffic Status, supported by Ministry of Science and Technology (12/07-12/09)

Aiming at the characteristics of Chinese traffic control and management and the imperfectness of networked traffic status information, this project is to study the traffic flow fundamental theories facing the soft measurement application. Besides, this project will put forward a serial of methods of information collection, network traffic flow feature extraction, traffic status evolution by means of soft measurement. Finally, all the theories, methods will be applied in a typical road network to testify the applicability.

  • New Traffic Information Acquisition Technologies based on IPv6 and Sensor Network, supported by Ministry of Education (5/10-4/13)

The objective of this project is to propose a new-type traffic information collection system based on IPv6 and Sensor Network. The main contents are composed of vehicle to vehicle communication technologies under the circumstance of IPv6, traffic parameter extraction based on vehicle to roadside communication, distributed traffic information extraction and data fusion, abnormal urban traffic status information acquisition and analysis and simulation platform of the new traffic information acquisition system.
