On July 25, the 2020 Global Artificial Intelligence Technology Conference, hosted by the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence and the People's Government of Yuhang District, Hangzhou, kicked off in Hangzhou Future Sci-Tech City. Dai Qionghai, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, President of Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, Dean of School of Information Science and Technology at Tsinghua University and professor from the Department of Automation, was invited to attend the opening ceremony of the conference and deliver an opening speech. He was also invited to deliver a keynote speech.
The opening ceremony was attended by Vice Governor Gao Xingfu of Zhejiang Provincial People's Government, Vice Secretary of Hangzhou Municipal Party Committee and Mayor Liu Xin, Zhang Zhenfeng, member of Hangzhou Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of Yuhang District Committee, as well as esteemed leaders and experts including Honorary Director of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Li Deyi, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor at Zhejiang University Pan Yunhe, Supervisory Board Member of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor at Hunan University Wang Yaonan, and Researcher at the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Foreign Member of the European Academy of Sciences Jiang Tianzi.

In his speech at the opening ceremony, academician Dai Qionghai said that the industrial revolution, represented by the steam engine and electricity, had expanded the boundaries of human productivity. The Internet, computer and chip industries born in the information age have enabled people to live in a global village. In the era of artificial intelligence, AI technology has brought technological change and industrial disruption, which will bring unprecedented changes to human society and life.

As a leading expert in the field of artificial intelligence, academician Dai Qionghai has made great achievements in scientific research and has profound and unique thoughts on the future development of artificial intelligence. In the keynote speech of the conference, he shared some thoughts on the development of artificial intelligence and made a profound analysis and interpretation on three dimensions of artificial intelligence: algorithm, computing power and human-AI interaction. "Current AI, especially technologies represented by deep learning, have made some important advances, but impose demanding requirements on computational resources", he said. Therefore, it is necessary to think about how to design disruptive computing paradigm and technology to better meet the computing power needs of the development of artificial intelligence. On the other hand, the existing advantages of artificial intelligence are mainly reflected in specific tasks, which is far from human cognitive ability. Therefore, we need to think about how to promote the breakthrough development of artificial intelligence from the perspective of brain and cognitive science. The development of intelligence and mentality is not achieved by a static "brain", but requires an "AI body" to interact with the environment and human beings. It is urgent to think about how to build such an "AI body", how to interact with human beings, and how to evaluate artificial intelligence. The early Turing Test has been unable to adapt to the current connotation and extension of artificial intelligence. Developing new testing methods for artificial intelligence will also be a crucial issue to address in the future.
The 2020 Global Artificial Intelligence Technology Conference is co-hosted by the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence and the People's Government of Yuhang District, Hangzhou. The Global Artificial Intelligence Technology Conference has rapidly developed into one of the largest and most influential professional conferences in the field of artificial intelligence technology and industry in China since it was first held in 2016. It is not only a major event of the industry, but also a benchmark of future technology development. Experts from all over the world had a fruitful communication and discussion, which was a visual and auditory presentation that showcased the development path and industry trends in intelligent technology. It played an important role in promoting cross-field exchanges and co-operation among all levels of the industry.
The conference attracted wide attention from the society. It lasted for two days, with 6 keynote reports, 20 the test kit forums and 3 concurrent activities covering cutting-edge technologies such as brain science, natural language processing, pattern recognition and big data, as well as industrial applications such as intelligent manufacturing, machine intelligence, intelligent education, intelligent medical care and intelligent security. It also built a high-end platform for all experts and scholars to communicate with each other, and provided a wonderful feast of knowledge for the audience. Fifteen domestic and international academicians and more than 100 well-known experts, scholars and entrepreneurs in the field of artificial intelligence gathered at the event to conduct in-depth discussions on topics such as theoretical breakthrough, technological change, application innovation, industrial integration and standard construction of artificial intelligence, and to study and determine the new trend of artificial intelligence development in the new era. On the first day of the conference, more than 2.6 million people attended it via the cloud and got a first-hand experience of the glamor of the event.

Academician Dai Qionghai is a leading figure in the fields of artificial intelligence such as brain and cognitive science and stereo vision. With the support from the special project of "Research and Development of Major Scientific Instruments and Equipment" of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), he designed and realized the multi-dimensional and multi-scale computing camera instrument, which has the largest field of view and the highest data flux in the world. Because of his research achievements, he has won the first prize of the National Technical Invention Award, the second prize of the National Technical Invention Award and the second prize of the National Scientific and Technological Progress Award, etc. He has also cultivated a large number of top talents in the field of artificial intelligence for China.
