The development of intelligent unmanned systems is becoming an important entry point and growth point for the industrial revolution. It will serve as an important indicator of a country's technological innovation and high-end manufacturing level, and will occupy a pivotal position in many fields such as the national economy, healthcare, national defense and security.

Intelligent unmanned systems integrate numerous disciplines and cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, control, computer, electronics, machinery, and network information transmission, with the aim of serving people and society. They have high intelligence and can adapt to changing environments and needs, which is the trend of future intelligent unmanned system development. As the most practical and showcasing intelligent unmanned system in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), it has received widespread and high attention from countries around the world.

Intelligent unmanned systems are essential facilities in many fields, including industry, aerospace, high-speed railways, transportation logistics, healthcare, social services, ocean exploration, and many other fields. At present, China is at an important turning point in the application and related technology research of intelligent unmanned systems. There is a certain gap between the core and key technologies related to intelligent unmanned systems, as well as various application research, and the international advanced level, which is also the main bottleneck for China to carry out the industrialization of intelligent unmanned systems.

In 2017, in response to major national needs and in combination with the school's exploration of new ideas in disciplinary development, personnel integration, and research team building, Tsinghua University was officially establishedCenter for Intelligent Autonomous Systems,Tsinghua University,

This center is a virtual interdisciplinary research institution at Tsinghua University. The center is affiliated with the Automation Department, and the co established departments include the Computer Department, Mechanical Department, Automotive Department, Medical School, and Chemical Department.

The Intelligent Unmanned System Research Center, guided by the research on the core technology of intelligent unmanned system, aims to improve the innovation ability and development level of key related disciplines such as control science and engineering, computer science and technology, mechanical engineering, vehicle engineering, Biomedical engineering, Chemical engineering, and promote the process of building the university into a world-class discipline. The Intelligent Unmanned System Center is aimed at objects such as unmanned aerial vehicle systems, unmanned vehicle systems, space robot systems, underwater intelligent unmanned systems, special robots and equipment, and intelligent service robots. We strive to build our research center into a research highland in the field of intelligent unmanned systems in China, form a high-level national level intelligent unmanned system research team, and build on the multidisciplinary advantages of Tsinghua University, Serving the development of China's intelligent unmanned system industry, promoting the structural upgrading of China's manufacturing industry and fundamental changes in production methods.
