March 30, 2025, Beijing – The Beijing Key Laboratory of Embodied Intelligent Systems was officially inaugurated during the 2025 China Embodied Intelligence Conference. As part of the "Intelligence Leads the Future" Beijing AI Series, the conference brought together leading experts to explore cutting-edge developments in artificial intelligence.
Professor Zhang Tao, Director of the newly established laboratory and Head of the Department of Automation at Tsinghua University, attended and addressed the inauguration ceremony.

The laboratory represents a collaborative initiative between the Department of Automation at Tsinghua University, which serves as the lead institution, and the Beijing Institute for General Artificial Intelligence.
As artificial intelligence and robotics continue to advance rapidly, embodied intelligent systems are evolving toward greater versatility and efficient collaboration. The Beijing Key Laboratory of Embodied Intelligent Systems was established to systematically advance core technologies in this field—including perception, control, decision-making, and manipulation—with the primary mission of significantly enhancing both the performance and practical application of these sophisticated systems in real-world scenarios.
